Low Poly Assets - Mobile Game Environment Concept

Created for Staffordshire University Game Design Course

Game Idea:

1st person post apocalypticical exploration and adventure game concept, inspired by themes used by games such as ‘Uncharted’ and ‘Fall Out’ and the TV show ' The Walking Dead'.

Initial setting:

Formerly a disused London Underground tube station dating back to the 1850’s and therefore retaining much of the look of that era.

o Old posters relevant to the era
o Broken bottles
o Benches and waste bins
o Old style telephone
o Era authentic underground signage

Set in the future, following a war against the infected, an un-exploded bomb has buried its way down into the subway resulting in a route of access in to the disused platform via cracks in the ceiling around the bomb entry site.

The tube station has more recently become home to a small family of survivors made up of a mother and 2 children ( a young boy and a teenage girl).

Features of this area will include objects relevant to survival (sleeping areas, cooking utensils, old barrels used as heating etc).

The platform will have at least three archways which once provided access to a larger tube system but has since been boarded up or blocked by rubble.

Other than the cracks in the ceiling from the bomb-site there is only one other ‘exit’ out of the subway, this leads to a larger system of tunnels.

There is part of an old 1850’s style carriage still in situ on the tracks.

Much of this area will be poorly lit, with most of the light coming through the damaged roof.

The bomb forms the focal point to the area and holds the most detail.

Activity / Progress of player prior to ‘Bomb Tube’

Immediately prior to this area the player has escaped a small herd of infected and stumbles upon a young girl clearly out scavenging. After a brief cut scene, served to gain each other’s trust, the player accompanies the young girl to the bomb-site (which the girl is calling ‘Bomb Tube’ and uses the opening in the ground to enter the area.

Activity of the player after Bomb Tube

Bomb Tube offers the player a chance to ‘rest’ that is to upgrade weaponry, restore health, ammo and gain access to the next area of the game. The teenage girl is key as she is the only ‘character’ able to move the game on to the next level, being small enough to use the exit tunnels. She would become playable during this scene.
